Your ACT Tip of the Day

Eat a good breakfast before you go to take your test. Don't load up on sugar. Try to have a balanced breakfast -- i.e. have some carbs, some protein, some fat -- and drink a big glass of water. Your brain functions better when it has the nutrition it needs and when you are hydrated.

Your ACT Tip of the Day

Get plenty of rest the night before your test. You can't do your best if you are falling asleep while you are testing!

Cause for Celebration

Wow! I found out yesterday that two of my current ACT students raised their score by 5 points and one by 3 points on their latest ACT. Way to go!!!

Your ACT Tip of the Day

Learn the test. One of the best tricks to beating any test is to know what to expect. In each ACT Institute you will learn the detailed make up of each section of the ACT. You aren't given the questions that you will have on the test, but you will learn the types of questions you will see on the test. Each test is broken down into it's components so you won't be surprised on test day.

Your ACT Tip of the Day

If you are the type of person who really gets bad pre-test jitters, try picturing everyone in your testing room wearing something really goofy (like fake noses and fright wigs) before the test begins. Breathe slowly and deeply and relax!

Your ACT Tip of the Day

Make sure you have all of the necessary supplies with you when you go to take your test. Your admission ticket is crucial! Also, you must have a photo i.d. - check the ACT website to see which types of photo i.d.'s are acceptable. Make sure you have several sharpened #2 pencils. You may bring an extra eraser if you want. Check your calculator against the list on the ACT website -- make sure it is allowed. And, last but not least, leave all of your electronic stuff either at home or in your car -- and this means cell phones, watches with alarms, i-pods, and any other noise making or communication device.

When registering for your ACT, it is worth the extra money ($19) to sign-up for the online practice. It will give you another weapon in your arsenal to beat the test!

Your ACT Tip of the Day:

Sign-up Tip #1:

When you register for your ACT test, DO NOT send your scores to colleges. Wait until you see your scores, then decide if you want to send them. This saves you the hassle of having to contact colleges to let them know which score to use if you take the test more than once.
